Funding opportunity - Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships

Funding opportunity - Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships

Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) offers an opportunity to fund applicants’ own research fellowships at the Interdisciplinary Centre for Ethics (INCET) - a research centre within the Faculty of Philosophy of the Jagiellonian University in Kraków. The research stay can last between 12 and 24 months. Researchers holding PhD are eligible for applying. Deadline: 12 October 2021.

Who we are

The Interdisciplinary Centre for Ethics offers an engaging and international work environment. Our research interests include (but are not limited to) bioethics, practical ethics, experimental philosophy, moral psychology, philosophy of medicine, political philosophy, philosophy of law, epistemology.

Although our research interests are diversified we focus on problems that bridge the gap between philosophy and practice. We use an interdisciplinary approach to deal with philosophical problems in practical contexts: both "armchair" methods typical for the humanities and social sciences (conceptual analysis, case studies), as well as empirical methods (behavioral experiments, corpus analysis, topic modelling).

The results of our work have been published by world-leading journals and book publishers. INCET is currently hosting BIOUNCERTAINTY Starting Grant funded by the European Research Council (ERC) led by Tomasz Żuradzki who is also the head of the Centre.

Why work at INCET

The Jagiellonian University is one of the oldest universities in Europe (established in 1364) and now one of the best two universities in Poland. INCET employees have different backgrounds but with a common interest in philosophy (while the majority of us are philosophers, some of us are also lawyers, psychologists, economists, and physicians) that are passionate about their research.

We cooperate in research and writing articles, comment on each other’s work, learn and master new skills, and, above all, are good friends also after 5 pm. INCET offers very flexible working conditions: we can work from home or from our office in central Kraków (52 Grodzka Street), at time different from the 9-5 shift but we all meet at the INCET weekly research seminar and other research events. The talks are given either by a member of our team or invite guests from other leading philosophy research centers.

The Jagiellonian University in Kraków offers an engaging academic and cultural life. The city itself is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Central Europe and offers many opportunities for spending leisure time. All in all, working at INCET can be an intellectual adventure and a boost to your career. We wait for you!

Some details about the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships

European Postdoctoral Fellowships are open to researchers of any nationality who wish to engage in R&I projects by either coming to Europe from any country in the world or moving within Europe. The standard duration of these fellowships must be between 12 and 24 months.

The goal of MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships is to enhance the creative and innovative potential of researchers holding a PhD and who wish to acquire new skills through advanced training, international, interdisciplinary and inter-sectoral mobility. MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships will be open to excellent researchers of any nationality. The scheme also encourages researchers to work on research and innovation projects in the non-academic sector and is open to researchers wishing to reintegrate in Europe, to those who are displaced by conflict, as well as to researchers with high potential who are seeking to restart their careers in research.

Supported fellows must be postdoctoral researchers at the date of the call deadline, i.e. in a possession of a doctoral degree Applicants who have successfully defended their doctoral thesis but who have not yet formally been awarded the doctoral degree will also be considered as postdoctoral researchers and will be considered eligible to apply. At the call deadline, supported researchers must have a maximum of 8 years fulltime equivalent experience in research, measured from the date of award of the doctoral degree. Years of experience outside research and career breaks (e.g. due to parental leave), will not count towards the amount of research experience.

Recruited researchers must comply with the following mobility rule: they must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the country of the beneficiary (for European Postdoctoral Fellowships), or the host organisation for the outgoing phase (for Global Postdoctoral Fellowships) for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately before the call deadline.

Supported researchers can be of any nationality.

Living allowance (after applying a country correction coefficient): 3580 Euro before tax

Mobility allowance: 600 Euro

Family allowance (if applicable): 660 Euro
