Vilius Dranseika, assistant researcher in the BIOUNCERTAINTY project, has authored a new publication "Memory as Evidence of Personal Identity. A Study on Reincarnation Beliefs". The publication is a chapter in "Experimental Philosophy of Identity and the Self" anthology edited by Kevin Tobia.

Metascience of Bioethics and Philosophy of Medicine: visit our new project's website!

In our new project we employ methods characteristic for a distant reading, for example, topic modeling – a computational text-mining technique aimed at discovering hidden thematic compositions in large collections of documents. In our paper forthcoming in Bioethics, we used this method to analyze about 20,000 texts published since 1971 in seven English-language leading journals in bioethics and philosophy of medicine.

Short visiting fellowships at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków

The Interdisciplinary Centre for Ethics (INCET) at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków welcomes applications for short (no longer than about two weeks) visiting fellowships for the year 2023. Submissions from Ukrainian scholars are especially welcome (also for longer stays). We particularly support applications from scholars who plan to come to Kraków to work jointly with us on applications to secure funding for a research project. We will review applications on an ongoing basis.

Conference 'Bioethics Meets Philosophy of Science'

The conference organized by the Interdisciplinary Centre for Ethics at the Jagiellonian University will explore practical, theoretical, and regulatory issues in biomedical research through the joint perspective of bioethics and philosophy of science. POLONEZ BIS 2 offers an opportunity to fund applicants’ own full-time employment at the Interdisciplinary Centre for Ethics (INCET) - a research centre within the Faculty of Philosophy of the Jagiellonian University in Kraków. The duration of employment: 24 months. Researchers holding PhD are eligible for applying. Internal deadline: 30 May 2022.
