8th May 2020: Research seminar online - Martin Zach (Charles University) and co-author- Are ABM epidemic models the models of actual mechanisms?
We have the pleasure to invite you for a research seminar in the ‘BIOUNCERTAINTY’ research project. The subject of the seminar is 'Are ABM epidemic models the models of actual mechanisms?' and it will be delivered by and Martin Zach (CU) with a co-author. The seminar will take place on Friday, 8th of May, at 4:00pm on Skype (link below).
Governments around the globe introduce public health (nonpharmaceutical) interventions aiming at slowing down the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. Despite their significant impact, the measures are not supported with high-quality evidence. Conducting RCT is not feasible because of ethical and practical constraints. One of the many ways to address the issue is through scientific modeling. Mariusz Maziarz and Martin Zach will take a closer look at epidemiological modelling on Skype on Friday, 8th of May, 4pm.
Martin Zach is a PhD student in philosophy based in Prague. He works on philosophical aspects of scientific modeling in the context of the life sciences, with a particular focus on immunological research. He was a visiting researcher at the ImmunoConcEpT lab in Bordeaux, the University of Helsinki and the London School of Economics.
