Philosophy in Practice

Philosophy in Practice

For many, philosophy is a boring discipline practiced by lunatics who often ask questions that are inappropriate to given circumstances. The main goal of the popular science magazine "Philosophy in Practice" is to refute this stereotypical image and show that philosophy is a fascinating, lively and attractive discipline, and the positions taken in the most controversial contemporary disputes as well as public decisions of enormous importance depend on philosophical reflections.

"Philosophy in Practice" was created in September 2015 thanks to funding from the Foundation for Polish Science (Agreement No. 139 / UD / SKILLS / 2015) in the form of an award granted to dr. Tomasz Żuradzki in the eNgage competition as part of the SKILLS project co-financed by the European Social Fund. All "FP" activities in the period from September 1st, 2015 to October 31st, 2016 were financed from this source. In the 2016/2017 academic year, "Philosophy in Practice" was financed by the PZU Foundation (Scientific Award, student competition, promotion), as well as the Ministry of Science and Higher Education as part of the National Humanities Development Program, Development 2.b competition. Since the beginning of 2017, the fees for the texts for the popular science magazine "FwP" have been financed by the Institute of Philosophy of the Jagiellonian University as part of the project "Integrated remote teaching system at IF UJ".
