3rd of November 2022 - Vilius Dranseika - Delineating Philosophy of Medicine. A data-driven approach

We have the pleasure to invite you to another research seminar in the ‘BIOUNCERTAINTY’ research project. This week Vilius Dranseika will give a talk: "Delineating Philosophy of Medicine. A data-driven approach". The seminar will take place on Thursday 3rd of November at 5:30 p.m. in the room 25 on Grodzka Street and via MS Teams.
Abstract
This talk is an attempt to characterize Philosophy of Medicine in terms of core themes and approaches, association with specific journals, citation patterns (and several other parameters), as well as to delineate Philosophy of Medicine in relation to Bioethics. This is done on the basis of a large corpus of texts published over the past half a century, building upon our previous research employing topic modelling (Bystranowski P., Dranseika V., Żuradzki T. (2022). Half a century of bioethics and philosophy of medicine. A topic-modeling study. Bioethics) and citation analysis (Bystranowski P., Dranseika V., Żuradzki T. (Forthcoming). The disconnection that wasn’t: Philosophy in modern bioethics from a quantitative perspective. American Journal of Bioethics).
